Another Way of Living
The symbol of Another Way of Living is the basin and the towel. In the bible in
John 13, we read that Jesus took a basin and a towel and began to wash the feet
of the disciples. After He finished He instructed His disciples;
"You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I,
your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one
another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for
you. I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger
greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be
blessed if you do them."
As followers and disciples of Jesus, we must also take these instructions to heart.
To that end, we seek to serve our community with the love of Jesus. We serve
out of gratitude for what Jesus has given us by offering grace and mercy. We
serve so that others will experience and come to know and accept that same gift.
